Iran's Foreign Minister Blames U.S. and Allies for Obstructing Efforts to Stop Gaza Killings

Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, asserted that the United States and some of its allies are the primary obstacles to stopping the killing of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip. Speaking at the Tehran International Conference on Palestine, he criticized the United Nations Security Council for its failure to take effective measures to halt Israel's hostilities in the occupied territories.

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that the participants in the conference share the common goal of ending the brutality of the "fake, apartheid, and occupying" Israeli regime. While acknowledging a UN Security Council resolution for increased humanitarian aid to Gaza, he expressed disappointment that it has not translated into effective action to stop Israel's crimes.

The Iranian minister called on all independent governments to provide unwavering support for Palestine. He highlighted the recent Security Council resolution, which demanded enhanced aid deliveries to Gaza but fell short of calling for an immediate halt to the ongoing violence.

Israel's actions in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 20,200 people, predominantly women and children, since October 7. Amir-Abdollahian underscored the U.S.'s longstanding support for Israel in terms of weapons and munitions throughout the conflict.
